House gets a C- For Budget Cuts

In my opinion, The House of Representatives Republican Party get a C- for their 1st attempt at budget cuts. They promised $100 BILLION in this years cuts. The Republican establishment offered $ 61 Billion. After many new Tea Party Freshman raised objections, they allowed amendments to raise the number to just over $100 Billion.

90 Republican Representatives voted against the amendments and joined with the Democrats to defeat most of the amendments. Even the Republican leadership of Eric Cantor and McCarthy, voted against most of the amendments. They supported the original $ 61 Billion. They did however join with the Democrats, this time led by Representative Weiner from NY to pass an amendment that takes hundreds of millions of dollars from NASA to  fund the Police on the Streets program.

Many Republicans ( at least 90) still do not get it. Police on the streets is not a Federal issue but is a State and Local issue. It should be funded at that level. $61 Billion in the remaining 7 months of a $3.5 Trillion spending plan hardly seems sufficient. They still do not get it. Make the necessary cuts as soon as possible. Keep the Federal Government doing only what it is Constitutionally obligated to do.  The Republican House of Representatives must do a better job on the 2012 budget or else they will also find out that

2012 is fast approaching!!!
