The Congress is debating passing a law that would ban the “Don’t Ask – Don’t Tell” policy in the military. They claim the survey of the military indicates that about 2/3 of the force have no objections to openly serving “gays or lesbians” in the military.
There is some indication the questions were phrased in a way that did not indicate the troops full meaning. In addition, some troops reported they were counseled in private by their superiors to be careful how they respond. There were indication a higher percentage of combat troops did not support lifting the ban.
All that aside. My thought for the day is simple. If there numbers are correct, in a time of war, can we afford to replace approximately 1/3 of our troops who do not support the lifting of the ban and would probably leave the military as soon as their enlistments were finished?
2012 is coming!!!!!
