Just heard NJ and other places going to fly their flags at half mast in honor of Whitney Houston. What happened to Ms Houston was a tragedy that a talented person unfortunately did to themself. Flying the flag at half mast is normally reserved for heroes military or civilian or people who have dedicated their lives to the service of people. They include some political leaders, presidents etc. What happened to people like Ms Houston, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson were individual tragedies but self-inflicted. While we all mourn the loss of talented people, it is my opinion this does not warrant flying the flags at half mast
