Many people are complaining and blaming the Republicans for a Congress that cannot do anything and seems stalemated. Remember the Democrats still control the Senate.
Also remember in the 2010 election,our goal was to take control of at least one House of Congress in order to stop the Progressive Agenda of both President Obama and the Democratic leaders. We were successful. We said we would be content to stop all actions by these Progressives until we had a chance to defeat President Obama in 2012 or at least create veto proof majorities in both the House and the Senate.
If it were not for the Republican controlled House we would have had;
- Another massive stimulus
- Rises in taxes
- Card Check
- Even more regulations to strangle business
- More uncontrolled spending
- Remember the House has passed at least two budgets for next year. The Senate has passed nothing and would like to continue to spend without a budget
As far as I am concerned, The less Congress passes the better off we are. As far as I can see, the President’s new proposals are more of the same. More spending on infrastructure, more taxes, more bailouts of the housing markets etc. All of this was in the Stimulus program and over $800 Billion was spent and it did not work. Without the Republican controlled House, we would be doomed to more of the same.
It seems the President has forgotten his statement ” there are no shovel ready jobs”. Instead he is moving to again award contracts to only “union based companies” If experience is any teacher, the money will again go into states to continue to hire and pay civil servants not create new jobs.
Remember all of this when you criticize the Republicans for stalemating Congress. Without them, think where we would be.
2012 is coming!!!!
